* Wow, that seems like a lot of posts!! Just found out as I went to post this. On to other news...
* I'm currently reading Passionate Housewives Desperate for God. It's good and I'm only on chapter 3.
* I have been doing some crafting recently and put pictures of it on my other blog like this one.

* Mom and I went and got massages this weekend. It was fun and here is a picture of her (lookin' thin I might add).

* Hudson is very clingy and won't let me lay him down at all today! Someone want to come take a turn holding him? He does love his Bumbo though.

* Dietrich's crocs arrived in the mail today. They're super cute, but I could only get one on him!

* Finally saw a squirrel eating off the squirrel feeder that Grandad made us!

* From the other day--Dietrich making "snow" in the kitchen with the baby oatmeal that was in a container (I didn't know he could open) on the counter (I didn't know he could reach).

Park Time!

My little boy is growing up! We went to the park today after we left the playland at McDonald's and Dietrich had so much fun! He was able to do everything by himself! So cool!!

Here he is climbing up the stairs!

First, he slid on the little slide. He always picked to go down the same side.

Then I convinced him to try the bigger twirly slide. This was actually his second time down and for some reason, he thought he could walk down. Disastrous and I think he might have made his lip bloody...or there was ketchup left on it from lunch!

He had to climb through the tube and thought sticking his face out was fun!

This time down was much better!

What beautiful weather! This was such a nice park and no one else was there. It was so clean and quiet. We will definitely be going back. Lots of room to run!

Hudson enjoyed his time at the park too!

A Boy and His Dog...Crate

Dietrich has a new favorite toy! It's the dog's crate! He just loves to get in there and close the door. Viva barely wants to get in there and only after being given a treat! He thinks it is his new toy!

Meet Viva

We adopted a dog the other day. She is a collie/husky mix with one brown eye and one half blue/half brown eye. She's the sweetest thing ever and puts up with all of Dietrich's (almost) terrible twos activities like pulling her tail, hitting her, etc. I have only heard her bark twice and never heard her growl. She mostly stays curled up around one of us sleeping all day and night. She loves to go outside and is really strong, but we haven't let her (intentionally) off the leash outside yet. She would run off for sure!!! Anyway, her name is Viva and we think she's about 1 1/2 years old.

Snow

Dietrich and I got out in the snow (even with our colds) for a few minutes, but did not take pictures. It was hard enough keeping him on his feet! It went up to his knees!! I tried to get him to throw a snowball at Dad through the window, but he just wanted "up." Oh well, maybe if we have snow next year... Here are some pictures of our house.

Today so far...

Today has been a little on the wild side so far. Everything was covered with snow when we woke up this morning! When Dietrich got up, I took him outside, but he didn't want to taste the snow. After a little while, he sat in the window to watch it falling. Then we ventured outside again and he headed straight for the chicken coop. So cute, but it was pretty cold!

Then I asked him what he wanted for lunch. The next thing I knew, he had opened the fridge door (which he just learned to do) and was walking around with an apple in his hand. I usually peel the apple, but he just chomped into it. I thought he would eat just a few bites, but after a few minutes, I noticed half of it was gone--including the bottom, core and the seeds!! This crazy boy had eaten straight through the bottom. After an hour, he had eaten all of it and I had to take away what tiny little bit was left before he ate the stem! He got pretty upset and kept asking for more! He must have been really hungry!!!

An Announcement!

Our little Baby #2 should arrive on or before Thursday of this week! I go in for an induction on Thursday unless he/she comes naturally before then! I'll update when we have some more baby news! So excited!! Please be praying for us!

Christmas Eve traditions:

Reading The Night Before Christmas with Pop and matching pajamas for everyone!

Dietrich loved getting to open his stocking and presents. He looked like such a big boy in this little chair until it fell over and he was done with it!

Nana and Lydia loved their quilts that I made them for Christmas (Lydia's was for graduation). To see a front view, go here.

Pop got a cool plate that Dietrich put his handprints on, I painted and Ben designed. So fun! Ben had a scruffy beard, but we still let him be in pictures! Ha ha! Just kidding!

Dietrich got a wagon from Nana and Pop for Christmas. He loves it! It was cold this day, so we headed out covered up. What a cute little shepard!

He loves to do everything in his wagon...especially get pulled around. Another new favorite toy is his rocking cow. He knows that a cow says "moo."

Here is the tree that fell on our garage on Christmas morning. It was huge! It was such a pretty snow though.

Dad made Dietrich a sad looking snowman before we left for Christmas with his family. You can see its stick arms. When we got to Aunt T and Uncle E's, Dietrich couldn't wait to rip into his present! He knew it had to be a "ba" and he was so excited!

We had a great lunch with the family. Dietrich loved playing with this nativity the most. I just love the picture!!

Christmas Crafting

In Dietrich news...
HE IS FINALLY WALKING...some! It was so exciting the other day when he just decided to stand up and take a few steps!! Now he is walking around pretty regularly, but not all the time. He is doing this weird crawl with one leg out straight to the side a lot of the time. Guess it was just time for him to go! Video soon.

He also has added some new words to his vocabulary and repeats a lot of words. This morning he was repeating "bubbles" in the bath. Too cute!!

Nothing seems to be happening with the baby right now. I am almost 38 weeks along and he/she can come any day now! So exciting!! Can't wait to meet our new little one and announce the name! We will keep you posted. In case I don't get back on again...

In Today's News...

I finally finished Dietrich's quilt last night! The binding takes forever! You can see that I quilted it with diagonal stripes. It was my first quilt to quilt, so I was being cautious! I like how it turned out.

And in other news...

Sadly, it was finally time. Dietrich's hair was always in his eyes (look at the next post to see what it looked like before I trimmed his hair), so I did a few pre-cuts before Ben got out his Flowbee ("It certainly does suck."--Quoted from what movie?) while I held Dietrich in my lap and chop chop it went.

There was a little bit of yelling, much pushing away of the suck-cutter and just a little crying afterwards, but a much more managable hairdo now!

This Silly Boy is Growing Up!!

This silly boy really is growing up! His favorite thing to do now is say "up" and have someone put him on the couch. Then he likes to grab the remotes and take the backs off. Sometimes he even takes out the batteries! He also loves to clap, smile, make silly faces and repeat words. He says bath time, bath time by saying "na na na na." It's too cute! He also REALLY loves his Dada! He is cutting 4 molars right now and seems to be doing okay with it. He loves bananas and pretty much any fruit, but is pretty picky with other foods. He is just one silly, sweet boy that blesses us every day! We are always amazed at something new he does (and he only drives me crazy every once in awhile)! He also has the craziest hair right now!!!

He decided the other day to help Dada work on his new desk. He crawled under and Ben had to give him his own wrench so he would stop taking his! He would bang it on the wood and make grunting noises like he was working really hard! It was so cute!!!

I was working on the binding on his quilt over Thanksgiving and pulled it out the other night. He thought it looked like a great new play area. He just loved rolling on it!

Today I walked around the corner for about ten seconds. When I came back, this is what I found! He climbed into the chair himself and was trying to work on my computer. Nothing is safe anymore!!!

Thanksgiving Week!

Since my family all headed to Disneyworld and we were "grounded" because I was 34 weeks pregnant, we got to hang out at home and do some fun stuff around here with Ben's family. First, we went to Santa's arrival and the Christmas Tree Lighting in town. We got there early and were ready to leave after an hour or so.

But not before we got our pictures by the tree!

...And watching our little monster try to pull ornaments off the tree...and then pull it down by shaking the grounding wire like a mad man (while screaming like a wild banshee)!

We also got to go to the zoo during the week. It was so cold, but Dietrich had a great time and enjoyed seeing the animals. He didn't make it the whole time, but fell asleep right before we left!

We got to spend Thanksgiving Day with Ben's family at his brother's house. Dietrich found a great bear to snuggle with.

We took a picture with all of the kids including Ken and his girlfriend who came in for the week. Yes, I am feeling huge!

All this was too much fun for Dietrich. He took a nap, but woke up in a bad mood, so fell back asleep in Dad's arms. He finally woke up around 7:00!

Then we got to go to Dickens of a Christmas which was pretty neat. They had some miniature reindeer that Dietrich wanted to pet. It was a beautiful day.

T-Man's Play

Grandad was in town and we got to go to T-Man's school and see his play, Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving. They did such a good job and it was so cute! Aren't these boys cute with their great-grandad?

Playdates!!

We are having so much fun going to playdates in our Mommy group. Dietrich loves to play with the other kids and is starting to learn so much! He got on this table by himself and played with his friend for a long time! They had a door that they just left open to the patio and he just loved staying outside.

He crashed on the way home!

Another time, we went on a turkey feather hunt. They were supposed to find as many turkey eggs (white balloons filled with feathers) as they could. Dietrich only wanted to find and chew on this one.

We always have so much fun with the other mommies and kids!

Fall Festival

We had a great FriendshipFest at our church in October. Dietrich enjoyed seeing all of the other kids. Ben and I had been a part of the group that planned it and we think it went really well! It was so nice when it was over!

This is the only picture we have of Halloween this year. Dietrich went as a Texas Tech fan.

I also organized a craft show for the church two weeks after the fall festival. It went really well, but it was a ton of work! We didn't have as many shoppers as I would have liked (and all of the vendors would have liked), but it was a lot of fun. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and only a few people really griped about it not being like they would have liked, but it was my first to organize! I was so beat after it that I went to bed early, but I still was dead tired on Sunday and couldn't see straight! Wowie, who knew it would be so tiring??

Sea World

We decided to take a quick trip to Sea World before we are grounded from leaving the area. Dietrich really seemed to enjoy people watching and the shows! He even clapped when everyone was clapping! So cute.

He liked the flamingos...or the ducks in the water near the flamingos. This picture is for Grandma's pink flamingo room!

Skipping his nap made him one sleepy boy during the Shamu show. (It was also a little boring and already about 3:00 which was when we planned to leave.) Ben poked me on the arm, I looked over as Dietrich collapsed into his lap. It was so sweet. He just couldn't take it!! We had a great time!

Pumpkins

Ben and I took Dietrich to a nursery where they were having kid events and everyone got a free pumpkin. We decorated ours with googley eyes, but the rest of the supplies were gone. It was fun, but Dietrich really didn't like having his picture made in the pumpkins!

He especially hated the warty ones!

They had a cute pumpkin house drawn, so the boys had their picture in there.

Birthday Party Highlights

HAPPY TO BE ONE!

The food...I was going to call it "Dietrich's favorites" but he has never had any of it! We had some beef sticks, fruit snacks, animal crackers and monkey cupcakes. Sadly, the Nilla wafers soaked up the liquid in the frosting and were mushy. Not super tasty, but they looked cute!

Opening presents was a lot of fun. As soon as one was opened, Dad would take it out of the package and Dietrich would play while I opened the next one. He got some great toys! He loves playing with them!!

Cupcake time! Nana made him a super cute crown for his birthday which he didn't enjoy wearing too much at first.

Uncle Rob brought him birthday crowns from Toys R Us since it was Geoffrey's birthday too. He didn't mind this when he was busy eating his cupcake, so we switched them out and got him with the crown on. He liked his cupcake and wasn't too messy!

After everyone left, he loved playing with all of his new toys. It was a fun party! He was up playing until way past his bedtime...then he crashed!

Chuck E. Cheese

We went to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch on Dietrich's birthday. It was a lot of fun and he loved a few of the rides.

He got to try a lot of new foods like baby corn and olives.

One Year Ago Today...

Today Dietrich will turn 1 year old! I can't believe it has already been a year (you can read more about it here). It seems like just yesterday I was up all night timing my contractions and keeping everyone else awake by clicking my pen! I remember walking the hallway and trying to go "natural." Around 3:00, I was done, so Pitocin came in along with the epidural. I had been having contractions since about noon the previous day!

Dietrich arrived at 7:11 pm after a little bit of pushing. After a little time together as a family, Ben headed out to tell the rest of the family that he had arrived. Everyone came in and loved on him and checked on me. It was such a memorable day!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, DIETRICH! We love you very much!!

UFC 103 Weigh-Ins

Rob ended up getting some tickets to UFC 103 thanks to a tweet from Dana White. He, Ben and two others will be enjoying the fights on Saturday night. So we headed down to watch the weigh-ins this afternoon. There were quite a lot of people there...and probably only one baby!
Dietrich actually seemed to like it. It kept his attention for about 20 of the 45 minutes. I think he just liked all the noise and lights!

This is how it goes. They walk in, wave, take off their clothes (leaving on their shorts), stand on the scale and get weighed.

Then they flex their muscles... We only saw 2 that didn't make weight, so they have an hour to get down to the correct weight. Joe announces the weight and they walk off to the side, shake hands with Dana White and wait.

Their opponent then walks in, does the same thing, and after he gets weighed, they "face off."

Pretty interesting if you're into that stuff (which I am). I thought it was more fun than sitting at home! This is Josh Koshcheck facing his opponent whose name I can't remember...

And here are all the boys in their UFC shirts. I made one for T-man that kind of fell apart as soon as he put it on. Dietrich has had his for a long time and is about to outgrow it! Can you tell how much fun T-man had??

Some September Fun

Our chickens have been laying eggs! As you can see, they are quite a bit smaller than the store bought ones, but we are getting at least one egg every day.

I now call Dietrich Little Monster because he is just that. He is into everything and just crazy (but 0h, so cute). He really likes to get his way and seems to be learning that crying (especially with real tears) can make all the difference in the world. The other night he got tired of being fed his food, so Ben stood behind him and "helped" him use his own spoon to dip it in the bowl. It was a sight to see! I laughed so hard!

We also went to Open House at My Gym. What a madhouse! There were so many kids. Dietrich seemed to like to watch the other kids...at first. Aunt Tiffany came to help out because I hurt my back picking him up this week (but it's finally feeling much better). She took him on the slide and let him play with the rings hanging from the ceiling which he loved. It was his naptime, so he went downhill fast.

Today Ben wanted to use his computer in the den. Dietrich thinks that means he can play on it too. We got out my old laptop so that Dietrich could play on it and Ben could do his thing at the same time. This worked until Dietrich started ripping the letter keys off and trying to eat them.

Favorite book: That's Not My Monkey (Usborne)--He loves to feel the different textures and especially loves to lick the hairy eyebrows of one monkey.

Favorite toy: Balls--He loves to bounce them and then chase after them.

Current trick: Blowing kisses! So cute! He has stopped clapping and waving though. One thing at a time I guess.

Arboretum and a Kazoo

We went last week to the arboretum with our friend and her friend. Don't these kids all have the cutest hair??

Then we headed over to the frog pond to play in the water before our picnic lunch. Dietrich really loved this! I thought he wouldn't like the feel of the rocks on his knees, but he crawled all around and splashed in the water. It was nice to get wet even though it wasn't super hot.

Dietrich likes to make a humming sound in anything that looks like a straw, so I thought he would love to play with a kazoo, so I got him one at the party store today. He thought it was too funny tonight!!

This Week

Dietrich has gotten 2 new teeth--8 now! He turned 11 months old on Tuesday and I turned 21 weeks pregnant! We went to the doctor yesterday and got a sonogram. Here are the pictures:

Dietrich and I also went to Chuck E. Cheese the other day to pick up tickets they were donating to our church's Fall Festival. They didn't have them, so they gave us some tokens to keep us busy for a little bit and we left with some pictures. He had so much fun!!

Cock-A-Doodle-Do

You guessed it. The other day, Ben was contacted by a guy saying he had 2 roosters and 2 hens he was going to give away. These are smaller chickens, already full grown at about half the size of a regular chicken. I actually think they are cute. So, we headed over to pick them up on Sunday after church. They stayed in a cage (that we found on the side of the road for free) in the back of our car while we ate lunch. Talk about stinky! Anyway, after we got them home, one of them had laid an egg! How exciting!! Then just the other day, it laid another egg. So we now have two miniature eggs in our fridge. When all the others get started laying eggs, we'll be having eggs every day for breakfast! We now have 7 chickens (5 hens and 2 roosters) living in our chicken coop.

August Update

I guess I've been kind of bad about posting lately. Maybe it's because I haven't been really taking pictures either! OOPS! Here are a few things that have happened this month.

* Today I am 20 weeks pregnant and we go next week for our "big" sonogram. At this appointment we would be able to find out the baby's sex, but we're going to wait. He or she sure is a kicker!

* Dietrich is crawling around on his hands and knees like a mad man! He loves to find anything that looks like a car and push it around. He also carries stuff in his mouth like a dog and loves throwing balls and chasing them. He is pulling up on everything and trying to get into so much! I think it won't be long before he takes his first step.

* Yesterday Dietrich and I got to hang out with his cousin T-man. We had a lot of fun! T-man and I did some projects while Dietrich was down for his naps. Here is what we did:

-- made a snow globe out of a baby food jar, glitter, water, a bug he made out of beads and a silk flower.

-- made glitter art by coloring on a sheet, putting glue down and then sprinkling it with glitter. We also found some leaves outside, did rubbings of them and added a little glitter to them too.

-- made a guitar out of cardboard that he got to paint and decorate. Uncle Ben drew it and cut it out of cardboard while we were at CVS. We added yarn as the strings. This was quite possibly his favorite thing! Oops, I forgot to get a picture of the finished product!

-- Dietrich got to enjoy a Kashi granola bar which he loved while he watched T-man work on his guitar. He just loves his cousin! He followed him around all day! He smiled and laughed at him so much!!

July Update

We have had a good month so far. Here are some of the highlights.

Dad went with the men of the church to The Valley to work on building a covered walkway between two buildings of a church. It started out with only the walkway...

He worked really hard!

When the youth arrived on Saturday, it was time to put the shingles on! They did a super job!!

While he was there, Dietrich and I headed to Houston to hang out with Nana and Pop. Dietrich started waving when people would wave at him and he had so much fun doing this. We got to swim every morning and even woke up Nana and Pop before 7 one morning by throwing things at their window from the pool! We had a fun time!

Dietrich now has 4 teeth!

While in Houston, Pop watched Dietrich so that Nana and I could go shopping and get a pedicure. I got cute flowers put on my toes!

Dietrich also learned that he loves to bounce balls. He also tries to bounce his other toys, but has found that most of them don't bounce well!

When we got home, Dad and I made a homemade pizza of hamburger, mushrooms and pepperoni. We learned that it's cheaper to go out to Cici's and it tastes better since we didn't really love the crust!

We are also having a lot of fun learning the Foxtrot at church!

Uncle Eddie came over after we learned that chicken #5 was also a rooster. We have been hoping for hens, but they've all ended up being roosters and really loud in the morning!! Ben bought some hens (hopefully) that were a little bigger than we've started out with before, so maybe this time we'll get some eggs!

DMA

This week, we headed to the DMA with Uncle Rob, Amber, Jenni and their kids. It was a lot of fun! First, we rode the trolley to get there.

The first Tuesday of the month is free since it is children's day, so the place was packed. Especially the children's area! The boys all got a tattoo and then the older boys made masks.

After this, we headed out and ate our sack lunches in the sculpture garden. It was a warm day, but the shade was nice. The boys loved running around! Then we headed to a building that was surrounded by fountains that the kids could play in...we thought! They ran through a few times, but were stopped by the security guards who then told us they could stand on the side, not run through the middle. They still left soaked and had a lot of fun!

Things We've Done This Month...

Tomorrow I turn 9 months old. Here are some things we've done this month!

--I went to visit Grandma and Grandpa...where I slept through part of the farm near LBJ's ranch that we went to visit. They got to babysit me while Mom and Dad went to a wedding.

--We found a road that was named after me!

--We got our picture made on the side of the road on the Loop.

--We went to Luckenbach and saw Nana's cousin who works there. While we were there, we took this picture...

--And we took this picture which I hated. My first time on a bull was not my favorite (although I think the man that handed me to Dad scared me more than the bull did). I am having some "Stranger Danger" issues.

--I did some reading one night with Dad, even though we were reading different books.

--I got a swimming pool for the backyard, but it hasn't made it out there yet. I can climb out of it really easy, even though Mom thought it might hold me for a few seconds!

--I have pulled up a few times on things. I don't do it very often, but my legs seem to work pretty well!

--I have tried to eat a few worms that Mom has had to dig out of my mouth.

--I got to go to Chuck E. Cheese with my cousin to celebrate his seventh birthday.

--I went to see Nana and Pop before they headed to London for a little trip. I got to swim in their pool and it was a lot of fun. Mom has also taken me to the pool a few times. I also got to see Miss Sandra and her family on this trip.

--Aunt Tiffany and Uncle Eddie got to babysit me while Mom and Dad went out to eat and to see Up in 3-D for their anniversary.

--I got a tooth on top, which means I have three teeth now. The one next to it is also coming in. That makes eating so much more fun! I am enjoying a lot of new foods and even eat puffs which I previously hated.

--I started saying "Da da da da."

New Foods

Dietrich has been trying a lot of new foods recently. Today he got to try a scrambled egg yolk for breakfast. After much gagging, he decided he was done. We will try again later! For lunch, he had some cottage cheese with banana. This seemed to go really well and I only got to see this face a few times (by the way, he has 2 ant bites on that right eye).

He also has eaten some chicken meals from Gerber that he seems to like a lot!

He is getting around really well, but is still doing the army crawl. It is too cute and he can crawl really fast. If he sees something he wants (like my flip flops), he is off! Tonight I found him crunching a rock in his teeth! This boy is going to keep me on my toes, but I sure love him!!

Grandma sent Dietrich a very cute M&M shirt the other day. We wore it to a play date and it is so cute (notice the tongue)! Our friend, Jack, had a great time pushing Dietrich around in a car. Dietrich just wanted to suck on the tassels on the tricycle.

Here are a few things that have happened in May.

We took some pictures in the bluebonnets.

We headed to Houston to watch Pop throw the opening pitch at the Astro's game. He got to do this because he was the Chairman of OTC this year! Dietrich got to go out on the field with him for a picture. My nephew, T-Man got to go out onto the mound with Pop! Afterward, we enjoyed some good food in the suite!

I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day with my mom. Dietrich made me a card and got me a charm of baby shoes with his name and birthdate engraved on them for my charm bracelet. So cute!

Then we headed to church for Dietrich's baby dedication. We dedicated to raise him in a Christian home and teach him about God's love. There were some other families doing this too--even triplets! Pretty much every member of our families were there, so that was really cool.

Afterwards, all 17 of us headed to lunch. It was yummy and we took pictures of everyone with Dietrich (before he crashed). I won't put them on here though since there were so many. Here are some highlights!

Spring Tea

Today I helped out at the Spring Tea at our church. It went really well and I had a lot of fun. It was fun to get to meet other ladies from the church! Last night, they didn't have enough women setting up the tables, so I said I could help out with that. I have a ton of Fiestaware, so my table had a Fiesta theme and I think it turned out cute!

Then I also helped out by modeling some clothes for the fashion show. We borrowed the clothes from Dress Barn. Here is what I wore.

Grandad came to town yesterday, so we've enjoyed hanging out with him. Dietrich loves to play with his bolo tie.

7 Months Old Today!!

This is how I found my cute little guy when he woke up from his nap the other day.

This is a picture for Dietrich's Aunt Tiffany. He fell asleep on the couch with me and I laid him on the floor. He always needs something soft to cuddle and this was laying near him, so he wrapped his arm around it. It was so sweet.

Dietrich and I went to a playdate on Friday and he loved being outside and trying to eat the grass. Another mom took this picture.

In other news, Dark Wing got killed by a hawk the other day. I heard a lot of noise coming from outside and by the time I had gotten to the ducks, the hawk was flying off and Dark Wing was laying dead by the house. Quackers seemed really sad and kept quacking for him (or so I think). We decided that the same thing might happen to Quackers, so we released him at a local pond. We went back on Friday night to look for him, but we didn't see him... We plan to get rid of our other ducks now too!

Fun Weekend

Nana came into town for the weekend. Pop was supposed to come too, but he had to stay home because he was sick. Dietrich sure had a good time. Nana got to watch him do one of his favorite activities--take a bath!

It was raining on Friday, so we had a good lunch at Which Wich and returned some stuff. Nana thought it was funny that Dietrich and I had on the same colored clothes. His pants matched my shirt exactly and we both had on blue jackets.

Everyone had a fun time at our Juicy Juice taste test party. Well, by everyone I mean Nana, Rob, Trey, Ben, Jenni and Jack. There was plenty of juice to go around and lots of door prizes for everyone to take!

Then Trey and Dietrich had a fun time playing with his toys. They also watched his new favorite movie--Baby's First Sounds by Little Einsteins. He laughs every time the blue sock puppet comes out.

Dad and Trey also played Legos, which is Trey's favorite thing to do with Dad. Dad also let Trey help in the yard and showed him how to change the oil in his truck!

Nana also got to feed Dietrich his bananas and barley. She thought it smelled pretty gross (because she doesn't like bananas), but he loved it! We had such a fun weekend!

Swimming Lessons and Easter Packages

Swimming lessons didn't go too well on Tuesday, but they went better than Monday! After class, he crashed out as soon as we left and took a pretty long nap!

On Wednesday, Dietrich got a great nap right before class and ate too, so he was in a great mood and we even got a few smiles out of him in the pool! Here is a picture of him with the other girls in his class. He is definitely the smallest! He and Dad got in the water before class started and left about 10 minutes after class was over. He didn't cry one time! (Here's a pic to make up for the one Pop said was too sad last time.)

Dietrich got a great package for Easter from Nana and Pop yesterday. It had a lot of clothes for this summer and some other fun Easter toys and books. His favorite toy is the bendable bunny. He fell asleep with it in his hand today! When we got home, we had a package from Uncle Billy and Aunt Jericho. It was a HUGE duck (which goes with the huge elephant and bear that he already has). When I showed it to him, he laughed so hard!

Then he started wrestling it and playing with his ever growing toy collection.

Egg Hunt

Today Dietrich and I headed out to our mommy group's egg hunt at a park near Uncle Rob's school. After Dietrich "found" some eggs, I sent Uncle Rob a text and realized he was outside with the kids, so we got to go over and talk to him. It was such a beautiful day outside and he loved playing in the grass! He was more into playing with it and trying to eat the plastic eggs than smiling at me. He also loved watching the other kids while he was swinging! Tonight is class #2 of swimming lessons!

The ducks also got to meet last night. Can you believe that Quackers used to look like the little yellow one? They're so huge! Quackers has a little limp that we think will last the rest of his life. He got an infection we think, so he waddles weird.

Swimming Lessons Day 1

Dietrich and Dad went to the local pool for swimming lessons today. I think Dietrich was a little nervous because of all the new sights and sounds! He did pretty good for about 5 minutes and then he started yelling. This is why I told Dad that he could take Dietrich--I would have wussed out and said I didn't want him to cry! That would have been the end of his lessons with me! Dad did a good job, though while I took pictures and video. Today he was just being introduced to the water and the girl wanted him to learn to kick. Tomorrow he will be "taught" to blow bubbles. YIKES!

Dad sure is having fun, but it looks like Dietrich is saying, "SAVE ME!"

What We Did Today

We got woken up this morning around 6:00 by the ducks and chickens making a lot of noise outside. We ran to check on them and found that one of the chickens had a large gash on his leg and claw marks on his wing. Looks like an owl (that I hear hooting outside our house while I type this) or hawk tried to get away with him! He was seriously injured with no hope of healing, so Ben had to prepare him for dinner.

We then went and bought 3 more chicks (hopefully pullets--females) and 2 more ducks. It's crazy to see how much Quackers and Dark Wing have grown! We now have to come up with some new names! By the way, Ben is almost done with the chicken coop, so the chickens will soon have a place to live other than in our dining room!

Before we went to church this afternoon, Ben got to feed Dietrich his dinner--sweet potatoes. Tomorrow he'll be having pears! Does this picture prove that all parents "help" their babies by opening their mouths while feeding them too?

Dietrich is officially able to sit up. In the second picture, you can see him using just his pointer finger. He does this all the time! He seems to like to feel the item with his finger before he'll grab it.

While he was shoring off his teeth, he also wanted everyone to see his different facial expressions.

Baby Food

Yesterday I spent the afternoon cooking up some baby food for Dietrich. I had previously gone to Sprouts to buy the stuff--apples, pears and a sweet potato. It was actually pretty easy and it was just my first try! Sandra had previously given me some advice on what to do and had bought me the food processor for Christmas. It came in handy for sure! I was about halfway through my preparations when it went out. I thought I had killed it, but then I just realized it tripped the outlet. Anyway, I ended up with 11 cubes of sweet potato from 1 potato, 17 cubes of pears from 4 pears and 14 cubes of apples from 4 apples. That should last a while!! Mr. D wanted to watch, but he did not like the sound the food processor made!!

This morning Dietrich had some sweet potato which he thought was okay. I mixed it with rice cereal about halfway through and he ate it pretty well. We'll have that for a few days and then move on to pears. Yum yum!

6 Months Old!

Dietrich turned 6 months old yesterday and is growing like a weed. It seems like every day he is doing something new! Yesterday we went to the library for a great book time with some other moms and tots. While there, I put him on the ground and he pretty much sat up on his own. I was shocked!

Today we went to a playdate with our mommy group and he sat on his own and played with a toy for a little while (above)! Then he got to show off for Uncle Rob and T-Man! I'm impressed with this new skill although he does usually tilt to one side or the other! He also started eating oatmeal yesterday and seems to like it!

Toothies!

I, for some strange reason, had my finger in Dietrich's mouth on Sunday while we were eating lunch and I felt it...his first tooth!! It has come up a little bit more in the past two days and is a sharp little booger! He has pretty much stopped chewing on his hands, but he will put a finger in the other side. He has been chewing on his hands since Christmas, so I guess that's the reason! He has been a little grumpy lately because of this, but is doing well. Rice cereal is going well too and we're moving on to oatmeal tomorrow! (No pictures of the tooth because it doesn't show much and every time I open his mouth, he sticks out his tongue!)

Well, today was the big day that Dietrich started solids! He LOVED it! I don't know if he liked it just because it was different or if he was starving, but he scarfed it down! He did a great job. I forgot the bib, so we had to improvise with a napkin. He even had a little bit of water afterwards. I'm following the recommendations in the book Super Baby Food. It's really good!

On Sunday, Dad found a new way to carry Dietrich around the house when he is wearing overalls. Even though he looks a little nervous, he was having a great time (and was only held this way over the couch for long enough to take the picture)!After we took a walk outside, I took Dietrich's Tech beanie off and his hair looked so wild! This picture says it all! While looking out the window yesterday, I noticed this stick in the ground after the rains we've been having. Looks like it would have hurt if it would have fallen on someone since it's stuck in the ground!! A few other branches fell too! (Do you like the great shirt I got at Wal-Mart on clearance for $4?)
Dietrich has started "talking" to us. It is SO loud and he does it everywhere! Grandad came in on Monday and while we were at Braum's yesterday and he started this and kids were plugging their ears it was so loud. He also did it in Half Price Books!! If I put a pacifier in, he'll just spit it out and keep going! It's quite embarrassing!

Dietrich got a swing for Christmas, so we thought we'd pull it out while we were waiting for Dad to get home from work today. He loved it...at first! I think after a little while it just made him tired, so by the time I got the camera, he was out of smiles. It was really warm today!!

No, we don't have a pond. We do live right next to a creek though. We thought the chickens would lay eggs, but they are roosters, so looks like they won't be our pets for too long. They are bred to grow very quickly and be meat. I personally think it's cheaper to go to the grocery store for eggs and meat, but Ben thought this would be fun!

Ben and I have never had pets since we got married. Today we went to Gebos and they had something we needed. I have to admit that Dietrich has been more interested in the box and lights than in looking at the ducks or chickens! I know he'll eventually like having them around (I hope). At the store the man who sold them to us said to make sure and take the food out of the chicken box at night. I asked if they'd just keep eating and he said, "yep," and made an exploding noise. Grody. So today instead of doing work on the garden that Ben is going to start, he's been reading about raising ducks and chickens.
Now we are trying to think of names. The yellow (or brown) duck will be called Quackers. Any other ideas?? Leave a comment and we'll vote on the best names for the others.

Tonight Ben and I are going out with our Sunday School class to a movie, so we're leaving Dietrich with Uncle Rob, Aunt Amy and T-Man. It's also a UFC Fight Night, so I whipped up this little onesie for Dietrich to surprise them with when he goes over. I think it's pretty adorable!! I've also been working hard on his quilt. City Slickers in Desdemona

We went to visit Grandad this weekend in Desdemona. We took the "scenic, yet slightly longer" route on the way there and then met Grandad at NY Hill. It was tasty! Then we went to his house for the evening.
On Saturday morning, he had a fun time showing Dietrich off at the gun shop, post office and general store! We also went to Stephenville to eat lunch and have a mini-tour of the town. We got to see Uncle Virgil and Aunt Jo while we were there, so it was a good trip! Grandad really enjoyed having us (but mostly Dietrich) there! He hardly let anyone else hold him the whole time!!!

We were driving back from the ranch and saw this little goat with her head stuck in the fence and her little kid standing behind her. There was also a sheep dog keeping watch. It was funny to watch Ben and Grandad try to free her, but she did leave without saying thank you!

I had Grandad copy some pictures for me of him and Granny when they were younger. I thought they were too pretty--and we got to see just how much Dietrich looks like his Nana.

Mr. Dietrich thought I was so funny when I tickeled him the other day. I just thought his laugh was so adorable! I just love to hear it and I think he's learned that when he laughs (or cries) he gets more attention.

Today, my friend, Jenni, and I went to a roller skating rink for some "stroller" skating with our boys. It sure was fun and a nice bit of cardio to start out the day. Then I mentioned I had heard that some Wal-Marts were getting rid of their fabric section, so we headed to one after lunch. Sure enough, their fabric was marked half price! So I got some good quilting coordinates to add to my fabric stash--30 pieces for $26!! Most of them are half a yard, but that's plenty for piecing. We have too much fun going shopping with Jenni and her little guy--we also went to IKEA yesterday!!

Mr. Dietrich, Model Extraordinaire

I had a coupon (of course) and I've been wanting to get some "professional" pictures of Dietrich taken, so we headed to JC Penney this afternoon. Instead of paying $9.99 per sheet, we got them for $3.99 with no sitting fee and a free 8x10. We left with A LOT of pictures for less than $35--they were so cute, it was hard to pick. I'll put the internet link on here when they send it (in 10 business days). When we got home, I took a few pictures in his super cute outfit. I'm going to enter one on Regis and Kelly's Cutest Baby Contest. Which one do you think? (Seriously, I need some help on this one so leave a comment--or vote on the side!) Just kidding--He's too young...

When we checked the mail, his teething giraffe was in there, which he really seems to like. He is currently "talking" to it while he is playing in his Jumperoo. I have entered some contests and won a few things online. Like the giraffe and diaper carrier pictured here. I also have gotten some fabric, Signing Time Colors DVD and a Cart Stopper before. This doesn't include the free samples I get from Wal-Mart! I just love getting stuff in the mail!!

Thursday was Ben's 31st birthday. We went to Braum's for lunch and this is how Dietrich fell asleep in the car on the way home--worn out from playing! We also celebrated by having a few presents and going to dinner at Applebee's. It was yummy!

Then this weekend, we had a few people over to meet Dietrich, celebrate Ben's birthday and see our house. We had cake and ice cream, so I think that's why most of them came! Just kidding! It was nice to see everyone!

After that, we headed to Rob, Amy and T-man's house to watch the UFC fight. I even got to wear my UFC shirt that Ben bought me for Christmas. Such fun!

4 Month Doctor Visit

Dietrich turned 4 months old yesterday. He is so active these days! This seems to be his favorite toy--he just loves the mirror. I thought this "old man" track suit was too cute to pass up and it feels so warm and snuggly on this cold day! We're expecting a little bit of frozen rain this evening and tomorrow. Brrr!

We went to the doctor's office today. He confirmed that Dietrich is in fact growing! He was impressed by how strong Dietrich is--standing up, doing crunches, lifting his head! He also got some vaccines which he didn't like. After returning home, he took a long nap. Here is what we found out:

I guess that's why everyone says he's so big for his age!

Nothing New

Last week, Ben said he saw Dietrich turn over from his tummy to his back on Sunday night. It's been over a week and he hasn't done it again. He is growing up so fast and turning into such a cute boy with a great personality! I love every day that I get to spend with him and can't imagine life without him!! Today he was awake during the inauguration, so he actually watched most of it. He seems to like to watch people whether they are on TV or in real life.

Swinging Along

As you can see, Dietrich really likes to sleep in his swing these days. This doesn't look too comfortable for me, but he takes such long naps and always ends up with his head over to one side! He also likes to cuddle with his bear blanket.

He is currently watching his first Praise Baby DVD which is keeping his attention. I think he likes to watch TV anyway, but this is good for him! He is getting to be such a big boy.

Check out the quilt I'm making him on my other blog. I got some work done on it last night and have another class on Sunday. I can't wait to see the finished product.

This is the first time I've been able to get a video of Dietrich laughing. Sorry you can't see him too well, but I couldn't hold the camera and play with the toy that was making him laugh. It is a little frog that you pull the bee attached to it and it vibrates. I had it right on his tummy and he just loved it! Such a sweet sound!

Goodbye Coupon Binder...

Well, it happened. Someone stole my coupon binder. I accidentally left it in my cart at Walgreens and was almost home before I remembered. I quickly called up the store and turned around. I then frantically ran through the store looking all over and asked the manager again. I left my name and number in case it was found or returned. It was a good coupon binder...with a TON of great coupons in it. I spent 4 hours last night organizing this week's coupons in their proper section. I had bought a double newspaper, so that was 10 sections of coupons. Seriously hundreds of dollars and hours of work are now gone. Such a sad time. Goodbye Coupon Binder.

All About Dietrich, Of Course

Here Dietrich is having fun with Grandpa. He just enjoyed having someone other than Mom and Dad to look at all night! He was all smiles and talking! Isn't he so cute with his hands clasped together??

Uncle Billy and Aunt Jericho sent the rug for Dietrich's room today! It looks so cute! He had some tummy time on it (which he doesn't love), and he lasted almost 10 minutes. I thought he was going to turn over, but not today! Sorry, no smiles during tummy time!!

When we were visiting Nana and Pop, the wife of a man who works with Pop had made a quilt for Dietrich. Isn't that awesome?? It is so warm and soft and he loves it!!

Today it has been quite cold! You can see the ice hanging off the trees outside. BRRRR!

Dietrich's feet touch the ground in his Jumperoo...when he wants them too. He sure does love that thing!

Grandpa just got into town and Dietrich is talking up a storm! He must enjoy having someone other than Mom and Dad holding him!

Just opened the CD my parents sent with the pictures of the family from Christmas. Here are a few of the good ones! (Yes, I did know my picture was being taken!)

Happy New Year!! This was Dietrich after we got home at 1:00 last night from Ben's friend's house. He had just had a nice 5 minute nap and was all smiles! Thankfully this didn't mess up his sleeping schedule too much as he woke up at 5 to eat and then at 10 or so! He's such a good sleeper and boy. We had a great time with him--he was so good while we played Wii!

We tried this ice cream bowl Astro's hat on Dietrich that we got at an Astro's game when I was pregnant this morning and it was too small!! The last time we tried it on, it was HUGE! He's growing SO FAST!!

This is the fabric I'm going to use to make a quilt for him in my quilting class that I'll start on Sunday. I'm pretty excited!!

Food, Folks and Fun

My good friend, KLee, and her family were in town for Christmas, so we got together with them at Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch. We haven't seen each other since my wedding 2 1/2 years ago! Her daughter just loved getting to take care of Dietrich. More pictures of that to come! It was so sweet!!This week Dietrich went to the doctor. He is growing so much. He was in the 83rd percentile for weight and height! He is almost up to 15 pounds and 24 inches. He's hitting all the milestones as well. He will turn 3 months old on Christmas.

He decided the other day that laying on his back was no fun, so he rolled to his side!! He also did a "sit-up" while on the couch and doubled over. We have sense realized that he has to be strapped into his swing and bouncy seat as he did a maneuver to get out of the bouncy seat last night and wound up face-down on the floor with a little bump! He also started playing with and grabbing his toys this week! He is growing up too fast!

We are hosting the M's Christmas today, so the house is looking pretty good. I'm so excited because I get to use the china that has been boxed up since we got married! Ben and I have spent a lot of time getting the house settled and cleaned this week so that it will look nice today. I think it has come a long way and we have very few boxes still loaded with stuff from the old house! It's so nice when everything comes together and you can see a job well done!

A Fun Weekend

We had a fun weekend! Friday, Dietrich and I got to head out to do a little Christmas shopping on our way to meet Dad, Aunt Tiffany and Uncle Eddie for dinner. We got to stop by IKEA where we picked up this elephant that I think will become Dietrich's best friend! He seriously smiled and laughed at it every time I put it in front of him in the store, so we just had to leave with it! It is huge, but so soft!
We got to eat dinner at Babe's Chicken which was really yummy. Then we saw the lights in downtown as they danced to different Christmas songs. Dietrich missed most of this since he was eating, but it was still fun.

On the way home, we stopped by a Live Nativity that had just started. It was pretty chilly, so thankfully it only lasted 15 minutes. I guess I thought it would be different since I didn't think it was too exciting and I was the one who wanted to go!

On Saturday, I got to take a hand quilting class from 10-2! It was so cool and I can't wait to take the machine piecing class in January so I can learn to make a quilt! Ben brought Dietrich up for our lunch break so I could feed him and then they went and did a little shopping. After that, we worked on decorating and straightening the house for the rest of the day.

Today we got all dressed up and headed to church. Dietrich stayed in the nursery for the first time while Ben and I went to Sunday School and church! I even made it okay, but he was having a slight melt down when we went to pick him up because he was hungry! That's how most of today has gone--eating all the time! He must be going through a growth spurt. He wore a cute outfit that Grandpa picked out for him.
Now, let's see if you can tell the difference in T-Man (my nephew) and Dietrich. Here are a few pictures where I think they look the same. What do you think??

It's Beginning To FEEL A Lot Like Christmas!

It's FREEZING outside, but it's nice and roasty inside! I think we're going to hang out at home today and get some stuff accomplished around here. This is what Nana bought Dietrich for "My First Christmas" that he is cuddling up in today (6 month size at 11 weeks--it is a wee bit big, but fits pretty well actually)! So cute!

Oh, he was pretty grumpy earlier while I was talking to Nana, so I put the phone up to his ear and he stopped crying and started cooing and smiling while she was talking to him.

I love how "happy" he looks here!

10 Weeks and Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving in San Antonio with Ben's family and it was a good time. Dietrich loved being held by everyone.

It was his first big trip away from home! We went to a really nice park and got some pictures with the nice trees. Aunt Tiffany and Grandma were really nervous when Ben climbed up the tree to take this picture with Dietrich, but it sure did turn out well!

The weekend after, we headed to Houston to see my parents. It was a lot of fun and we got to do a little Christmas tree decorating (pictures are on their camera).

Then Nana came here to take care of T-Man while his parents were in Utah skiing. We were able to get a lot of Christmas shopping done for both of us and get their picture made with Santa. So cute! Okay, so Dietrich and Santa didn't start off being best friends, but it was seriously freezing out there and he was quite tired!Silly T-Man tries to wear Dietrich's hat!

Dietrich, Ben and I are looking forward to a fun Thanksgiving. We'll get to see a lot of family and have a lot of fun! He'll be wearing this cute little outfit on his fat tummy!

Dietrich has got quite the personality these days. I think he wants to laugh, but he's just getting smiling down. He is so cute I just can't stop taking pictures of him!!

This is what he wore today to church (size 3-6 months). He looks like such a big (little) boy! I was telling Ben tonight that it looks like he's already grown so much. He's only 7 1/2 weeks old!

His current least favorite thing to do is go to sleep. He gets quite grumpy when he's falling asleep--especially in the late evening! He is still sleeping well and doing great during the day--staying awake a little more. He's pretty fun!!

Ben, Dietrich and I got up extra early this morning. Rob had asked us to come to his school for veterans day. Okay, he didn't ask me, but I tagged along! Grandad was there as well. Both Grandad and Ben served in the National Guard. Trey got to sit with them while they were honored with the other veterans. Then he got to escort them through the halls for the "parade." It was really cute and I was glad we got to be there!

CVS Closet

Well, I went shopping today with Dietrich at Walgreens and Kroger. I read online what deals were out there before heading out. I was able to get all of this for $12.07.

In case you can't see it, here is what I got:

shampoo, conditioner, 4 yogurt 4 packs, formula (free coupon), evaporated milk, scrubbing sponge, popcorn, 2 frostings, 2 cake mixes, cookie mix, 4 toothpastes, sugar, toilet paper, razors, 5 packs of baby wipes and dog treats (free coupon).

After arriving at home, looking at my great deals and taking this picture. Most of these items were added to my "CVS closet." This is where I keep our "stockpile." Most, if not all, of this stuff is free or super cheap from CVS or other grocery stores. I told Ben that we should give the kids that came to our door for Halloween a tube of toothpaste and some deoderant--we have so much!! Our pantry is also full with food products that I use and there are still a few duplicates in the CVS closet. I like to show it off, so here are a few pictures (you can't really tell how impressive it is).

The doctor asks every time if he can follow us to the mid-line (cross his eyes). The answer is now obviously YES. :)

Yesterday I opened the musical gym that Uncle Justin and Aunt Emily got Dietrich and he really liked playing with it (or just staring at the animals above him). It must have made him really tired!
